When I set out to execute an intake manifold for our ever-growing line of products for GM's superb Ecotec engine, I drew upon the designs we've relied upon and refined for years in our championship-winning, record-setting racing programs.   The result is what you see here, our StreetRace intake manifold.  From our six-second dragbikes to our 750 hp FWD street cars, this design has been proven a winner!  It combines race-bred features with true daily-drivable streetability and durability.

I've been refining this design for some years now, and I'm proud to offer this manifold for an ever-growing array of Ecotec applications:

  • Cavalier/Sunfire 2.2L L61

  • Cobalt/G5 2.2L L61

These proven units have also found their way onto Saturn Ion Redlines, Arial Atoms, and even Ecotec-equipped Deuce Coupe street rods, among others!

 

Features

  • Plenum design: This highly-evolved plenum shape and contour is race-proven to provide excellent air distribution to all four cylinders at all manifold pressures.  Its 180-degree rounded end carefully avoids the use of sharp corners at this critical location, eliminating turbulence and uneven filling at the #1 cylinder.

  • Burst and bulge resistance: As a racing engineer, I don't cheap out when it comes to durability.  I use .250" thick CNC-machined 6061 billet plenum plates front AND rear for ultimate protection against burst or bulge due to backfire and/or ultra-high boost levels.  I don't use the cheap trick of welding on a signal plate to a thin front plate.  My one-piece front plate will not warp.  Further protection is achieved via a one-piece plenum surround that has no sharp corners or welds that can fail over the long haul.

  • Velocity stack inlets: CNC machined into the plenum's internal contour, this careful radius further reduces turbulence and ensures accurate cylinder filling at high flows.

  • Signal Ports galore: We provide numerous ready to connect machined ports for signal hoses and sensors.

  • PortFueler ready:  Whether you choose to include our famous PortFueler fueling solution for boosted use now or later, your StreetRace manifold is ready to go, with PortFueler fuel rail mounting points standard on all models.

  • Throttle Body options:  If you want to run a larger-than-stock throttle body, no problem.  Just let us know when you order.

  • Expertly TIG welded: Here is another area where we don't play around.  You will be impressed at the welding quality.  Our attention to detail in this department is second to none.

  • Warranty: I am so confident in this design and its years of evolved features that I will personally guarantee it for the lifetime of your car.*  How can I be so confident?  The best way: by knowing that it won't fail, because in years of producing them, they simply don't fail.  

If you are doing a turbo conversion and use this manifold to replace the less-than optimal unit on the LSJ Ecotec Supercharged, you'll appreciate the attention to detail I've provided.  Your SC throttle body will also bolt right on in a near-stock position, and your MAP and SCIP sensors will pop right into the ports I designed into the one-piece billet machined front plate.
