The prototype car, a SOHC with automatic
transmission, is owned by Howell Automotive and equipped as
follows:
- Hahn RaceCraft Stage II Turbosystem with
Front Mount Intercooler option
- Ported cylinder head with Crane Cam
- Higher stall torque converter
- 2 1/2" exhaust, no catalytic converter
- AFX Underdrive pulley
- Weight with driver: 2400 lbs.
- Boost Pressure: 9psi
- 14" Slicks on stock Neon alloy wheels
First time out, the car ran
13.02 at 103 mph! With the auto trans, it was super easy
to do burnouts, stage, and launch the car.
Consistent runs were also
assured with the auto, as upshifting could not be simpler.
1.81 60 foot times were had with a mellow, half throttle
launch.
With more practice, this is an
easy 12 second, super consistent drag/street car. That's
over FIVE SECONDS quicker than stock!
