The TurboNeonWeb is cooperative project
between Hahn RaceCraft and Daimler Chrysler. This
vehicle will take a unique look at the latest products
available to the sport compact market.
This project vehicle will provide Chrysler and Hahn
RaceCraft with a marketing tool that shows that the Neon is a
viable alternative to the import vehicles in the sport compact
market. Along with several aftermarket companies, Hahn
RaceCraft designed, and created, the TurboNeon.Web. Hahn
RaceCraft is also using the TurboNeon.Web to prototype their
turbosystem for the 2nd generation Neon.
TurboNeon.Web arrived at Hahn
RaceCraft as a plain black car. One of the most important
areas of modification in the sport compact market are paint
and graphics. This is the area where the typical enthusiast
makes his car unique. The exterior of the Neon needed to be
striking, and different from the rest of the Sport Compact car
pack. Ultimate Airbrush, of Fort Wayne, IN was brought in to
provide the paint on the Neon. Ultimate Airbrush owns the only
robotic airbrush equipment in the US. They provided original
artwork by Vicki Roy, that was applied to the hood of the
Neon. The artwork is of two female models, with an overlaying
spiderweb design. Carrying the theme throughout the rest of
the vehicle, Carbon Fiber Spider webs and spiders were
applied. All of the participating companies have their logos
airbrushed into the paint scheme utilizing a custom paint.
Ultimate also provided unique details such as an airbrushed
license plate, custom carbon fiber graphics on the wing, and
windshield and rear window graphics.
INTERIOR MODIFICATIONS
The interior of TurboNeon.Web had
to exemplify form and function. To this end, a carbon fiber dash
provided by Woodview Automotive was installed. Custom
electrostatic chroming was applied to the vents, door handles,
and other trim pieces. Autometer provided their new Cobalt
series gauges. The Blue lighting of the Cobalt gauges matches
perfectly with the neon underlighting. Gauges installed include
a 5” Tach with shift light, boost gauge, A/F Meter and EGT
Gauge. The gauges were custom installed by Hahn RaceCraft.

Boss Audio provided a full stereo
system for the car. The stereo system features a 1000 amp Ripper
2 channel Amplifier, in dash CD Receiver with wireless remote,
6.5” 2 way Neodymium Speakers, 3.5 “ tweeters, 10”
Subwoofers, and all related installation accessories. The stereo
installation is highlighted by neon lighting, Provided by
LiteGlow, in the trunk.
Santeca Electronics provided an
in car camera system for TurboNeon.Web. This three camera system
allows for in cockpit recording a dragstrip passes. It allows
for video download from the drivers view, a view of the interior
of the vehicle and one from the rear.
The racing seats are Street Racer
seats and were provided by LiteGlow.
PERFORMANCE MODIFICATIONS
The focal point of the
performance modifications is the Hahn RaceCraft Intercooled
turbosystem. Featuring a Hahn RaceCraft Super 16G turbo, this
system provides an additional 120 hp. The turbosystem sports a
Front mount intercooler with the exclusive HRC integrated return
passage. This design offers superior cooling as the air passes
through the intercooler twice, eliminating return piping and the
related boost loss. The Hahn system includes a complete fuel
system, including fuel pump and VROG Fuel pressure regulator.
Also included is a new intake system with K & N Filter. All
piping is powder coated in gloss black for durable good looks.
The downpipe from the turbo is a 2 1/2” Stainless Steel by
Hahn RaceCraft. Thermal Research and Development provided a
cat-back exhaust system. This exhaust is all stainless steel
with a polished straight through muffler and polished 4 1/2”
tip.

Mopar Performance Parts provided
a short throw shifter for drag race use. They also supplied a
spark plug wire set.
Nitrous Express provided a Gen X
, Single Port adjustable nitrous system. The system is
adjustable from 40 to 75 hp. The Nitrous system can be set up to
provide a shot of N2O while the turbo spools up or can be
activated to provide more horsepower on the top end.
SUSPENSION AND HANDLING
The rims on TurboNeon.Web are 19”
x 7.5 Konig Absolute in Graphite with polished rim lips. The
tires, supplied by Toyo Tires are 225-35-19s. KW Suspensions
provided coilovers for the project, to give it a sportier look.
These Coilovers are height adjustable from 1-3” and utilize
performance damped strut valving. These coilovers will be
available through Mopar Performance parts in 2003. Mopar
Performance Parts supplied a torque sensing limited slip
differential for the project. A brake Kit from Stainless
Steel Brake Company commpletes the look.
